Homegrown Live 2021 (??)

September 10, 2020 By Chris Morris

🎼 Hello music lovers! ðŸŽ¸

Back in April, we had really hoped we’d be able to put on a great Homegrown Live this fall. We knew it wasn’t likely, but we hoped for it anyway. We’re going to hold out for a triumphant return to live music in our favourite downtown venues in 2021!

There is still lots of great music to be seen and heard at Musiikki, Blu Martini, The Mansion, Market Square, the Wharf and Feather and a few other spots around town, plus live streams from many of our favourite local musicians. Check ’em out and support ’em as best you can!

In the meantime, The Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library is still running and still has lots of bills to pay. If you can afford to throw a few bucks their way, please do!

As ever, thank you to our many amazing volunteers, including venue coordinators, musicians, and organizers for your hard work and passion. If we could do it this year, we couldn’t do it without you!

See you soon.
Love, Homegrown.

HomeGrown Live 2020 is postponed

April 6, 2020 By Chris Morris

Hi folks,
The 12th annual HomeGrown Live Music Festival has been postponed until October 3. While we were originally scheduled for May 2, there are many indications that it will be at least early summer before we can get back to live music again.

Our volunteer venue coordinators had been hard at work sorting through applications and putting together schedules, which we’ll be moving to the new date. We’re hoping to keep everything the same for the fall as we had planned for the spring.

If you applied for HomeGrown and haven’t heard yet, it may be because the schedule for your venue was not finalized.

Our plan is to announce the full lineup in early September. At this time, we do not expect to be re-opening the application process because we just had so many!

To the 100+ local acts that submitted to play, and the amazing venue coordinators, and our partners, thank you for all you’ve done so far. We’re really hoping to see you soon.

The Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library is closed until physical distancing restrictions are limited, and they’ve lost a fair amount of income and donations. If you’re able to throw a few bucks their way, please do! https://www.joesmill.org/support/give/

2020 applications are now closed

Thank you for the incredible number of submissions! Our volunteer coordinators will be working on the schedules over the next few days, and we’ll be announcing the lineup in early April.

Another record-breaking year for Homegrown Live!

May 10, 2019 By Chris Morris

Wow! Even after 11 years, we are still in awe of how amazing this music scene is. Even with all the incredible performers and volunteers, we can’t do it without live music lovers, and you came out in record numbers this year. The Kingston music scene reaps the benefits, but most importantly, so does The Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library.
Thank you, Kingston. We’ll see you next year!
