The Kingston Youth Strings
One of 3 student ensembles supported by The Kingston Symphony Association, conducted by Danielle Lennon . All musicians keen to develop performing skills, they perform frequently (i.e.The Kingston Kiwanis Music Festival, The Kingston Symphony House Tour). Many have played or are currently playing instruments from Joe’s MILL, and are excited to have this opportunity to give back!
After studying piano, and later interested in guitar and clarinet, for the last 15 years Merrilyn has played the harp, often at weddings and dinners. Here she will play the 38 string lever harp. Usually playing Irish and Scottish 18th Century folk music, today she will be doing some classical, as well as some of her own compositions.
Chris Giguère & Alex Voinot
Chris Giguère from Kingston and Alex Voinot from Strasbourg have only recently begun playing together. Separately each an accomplished solo classical guitarist, they are enjoying exploring the interaction of two guitars in duet arrangements of pieces by Beethoven, Mozart, Giuliani, and others.
In Kingston since 2003 (originally from the UK), she has collaborated with numerous local productions and ensembles, along with internationally-recognized artists such as Valery Lloyd-Watts, and Brian Finley. Currently, she is a collaborative pianist for two Cantabile Choirs, the Dan School at Queen’s, Kingston Chamber Choir, Kingston Choral Society, and a regular extra with the Kingston Symphony Orchestra.
Alison Josselyn and Stan Segel
Two people playing inspired clarinet duets. Stan has played in numerous community bands, including the Garrison Band, orchestra Kingston, and many other ensembles. Alison has recently began playing the clarinet again after a twenty year absence from it.
Classically-trained, Ian composes music primarily for the piano. He received private instruction at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, and obtained his A.R.C.T. Diploma in Piano Performance in 1999. He is releasing an album of piano pieces in the Spring of 2017. Visit ianwongmusic.com for more info, and music samples.
