Virtual HomeGrown Live 2021!

June 29, 2021

Homegrown Live is back!

Obviously, our plans for 2020 were scuttled. We talked about the idea of a virtual festival for quite some time, but we weren’t finding the right concept until we came across some really amazing streaming rigs being offered locally by our friends at Roswell Rehearsals, Kingston Sound Works, and The Hotel on Wolfe Island (formerly the General Wolfe Inn).

That brings us to Homegrown Live 2021, a free streaming event on Saturday, July 10! We’ll be taking donations throughout the evening for Joe’s M.I.L.L., our long-time beneficiary.

7:30 PM – Chantal Thompson+
8:15 PM – Trevor Strong*
9:00 PM – Clem Chesterfield+
9:45 PM – Reckless & Banded*
10:30 PM – Savage Family Band+
11:15 PM – Futura Free*

+Live from The Hotel on Wolfe Island
*Live from Roswell Rehearsals

We couldn’t do this without the generous support of HC Concepts, CFRC 101.9 FM, Amherst Island Radio, Kingstonist, Team Ambrose from Royal Lepage ProAlliance Realty, and Skeleton Park Brewery.

HomeGrown Live 2021 (??)

September 10, 2020

🎼 Hello music lovers! 🎸

Back in April, we had really hoped we’d be able to put on a great Homegrown Live this fall. We knew it wasn’t likely, but we hoped for it anyway. We’re going to hold out for a triumphant return to live music in our favourite downtown venues in 2021!

There is still lots of great music to be seen and heard at Musiikki, Blu Martini, The Mansion, Market Square, the Wharf and Feather and a few other spots around town, plus live streams from many of our favourite local musicians. Check ’em out and support ’em as best you can!

In the meantime, The Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library is still running and still has lots of bills to pay. If you can afford to throw a few bucks their way, please do!

As ever, thank you to our many amazing volunteers, including venue coordinators, musicians, and organizers for your hard work and passion. If we could do it this year, we couldn’t do it without you!

See you soon.
Love, Homegrown.

HomeGrown Live 2020 is postponed

April 6, 2020

Hi folks,
The 12th annual HomeGrown Live Music Festival has been postponed until October 3. While we were originally scheduled for May 2, there are many indications that it will be at least early summer before we can get back to live music again.

Our volunteer venue coordinators had been hard at work sorting through applications and putting together schedules, which we’ll be moving to the new date. We’re hoping to keep everything the same for the fall as we had planned for the spring.

If you applied for HomeGrown and haven’t heard yet, it may be because the schedule for your venue was not finalized.

Our plan is to announce the full lineup in early September. At this time, we do not expect to be re-opening the application process because we just had so many!

To the 100+ local acts that submitted to play, and the amazing venue coordinators, and our partners, thank you for all you’ve done so far. We’re really hoping to see you soon.

The Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library is closed until physical distancing restrictions are limited, and they’ve lost a fair amount of income and donations. If you’re able to throw a few bucks their way, please do! https://www.joesmill.org/support/give/
